What replaced Oki Doki points in January 2026, how J-POINT is earned on JCB cards, and how redemption value varies by route.
Direct answers
J-POINT is JCB’s card currency since January 2026, replacing Oki Doki points; existing balances were converted automatically, and redemption value still varies sharply by exchange route.
Key points
Operator: JCB; J-POINT replaced Oki Doki points on 13 January 2026 and balances were converted automatically.
Earning is calculated on the monthly statement total, so small purchases are not discarded transaction by transaction.
JCB Card W and W plus L earn at an enhanced base multiple compared with ordinary JCB cards.
The J-POINT Mall (formerly Oki Doki Land) multiplies earning at partner shops, but only via that route.
Redemption value differs a lot by option — compare in yen, not in points.
From Oki Doki points to J-POINT
JCB renewed its long-running Oki Doki point program as J-POINT on 13 January 2026. Members did not need to do anything: existing Oki Doki balances were converted automatically at the announced ratio, and the shopping mall was rebranded from Oki Doki Land to the J-POINT Mall. Because the conversion changed the number of points a balance is expressed in, older third-party articles quoting Oki Doki exchange rates — “1,000-yen gift card for 300 points” and similar — are no longer a safe guide to what a J-POINT balance buys. Check the current exchange table on JCB’s own program page before assuming a redemption is worthwhile.
Earning and redeeming
Points are calculated on the monthly card-use total rather than per transaction, so a month of small purchases still accrues. The base multiple depends on the card: JCB Card W and JCB Card W plus L earn at an enhanced rate relative to ordinary JCB cards, while the gold, premier and top tiers are weighted to services rather than to a higher base rate. Partner merchants and the J-POINT Mall raise the multiple, but only for purchases made through the stated route, and campaign awards are separate from the base again. On the redemption side, the range of options — gift cards, statement credits, partner point programs and airline miles including ANA and JAL — carries very different effective values, and the miles routes usually depend on which conversion course you have enrolled in. As with every issuer currency, convert both sides to yen before deciding whether a card that “gives more points” actually pays more.

Most major points (Rakuten, PayPay, d, V) are worth about ¥1 each when spent on everyday purchases, which makes them easy to value. Some points are worth more when converted to airline miles under the right redemption, and less when locked to a single store or close to expiry. As a rule, treat ¥1 as the baseline and be skeptical of “inflated” valuations that assume perfect redemption.
Is one point always worth ¥1?
No. Most major points redeem near ¥1 when spent in-store or on the operator’s marketplace, but transferring to airline miles, merchandise, or another currency can yield well under ¥1. A store-locked balance like nanaco is less flexible even at the same nominal rate. Value each point at the redemption you will actually use.
