A multi-currency app account with a card and fee allowances for currency exchange, useful for people who spend or hold multiple currencies.
Revolut Japan’s FX allowances, weekend and out-of-hours charges, transfers, card spending, and the plan details that decide whether it is cheap for you.
Revolut Japan is a registered Type II funds-transfer provider with a strong multi-currency app and card; Standard customers pay no listed exchange fee during market hours within allowances, but 1% applies outside market hours and high-frequency use can add 0.5%.
Revolut offers multi-currency conversion, a wallet, card spending with strong controls, and domestic and international transfers; receiving and transfer features depend on the account and route. Its strengths are travel, subscriptions, and moderate multi-currency use, backed by an English app and help centre.
The Japan service operates as a registered Type II funds-transfer provider (registration identified as 00060 in official legal materials). It is not presented as an ordinary bank deposit, so check the Japan legal and safeguarding disclosures for how your balance is protected.
For Standard regular customers there is no listed exchange fee during market hours, subject to monthly allowances. Exceeding the allowance with high-frequency Standard usage can incur 0.5%, and all fiat exchanges outside defined market hours incur an additional 1%. Some SWIFT routes carry no Revolut transfer fee but can still attract intermediary fees, while eligible “pay all fees” routes list ¥4,200.
Because allowances and plan tiers change what you actually pay, check the app’s displayed transfer and exchange allowances before a conversion, and time non-urgent exchanges for weekday market hours. Source-of-funds documentation may be requested on larger or unusual activity.
