A bank with the widest branch and ATM network in Japan, often accessible for new residents and useful in rural areas.
Japan Post Bank’s Japanese-only outgoing web service, its per-transaction and monthly limits, My Number requirement, and the USD/EUR-only incoming instructions with disclosed correspondent deductions.
Japan Post Bank offers browser-based outgoing remittance at ¥3,000 per transaction (under ¥1m each, ¥2m/day, ¥5m/month), but the outgoing interface is Japanese-only; incoming English instructions support only USD and EUR with disclosed correspondent deductions.
Japan Post Bank offers browser-based Yucho International Remittance for individual account holders, at ¥3,000 per transaction using the bank’s published rate at application. Intermediary and beneficiary fees may be deducted on top. Limits are under ¥1 million per transaction, ¥2 million per day, and ¥5 million per month, and My Number is required.
The important constraint is language: the outgoing website is Japanese-only, and some entries must be made in Japanese. Corporate transactions cannot be made through an individual account.
Incoming English instructions support USD and EUR. Use BIC JPPSJPJ2, the correctly formatted account number, and the registered English account name and address — the account-symbol/number conversion must be exact. Japan Post Bank discloses fixed correspondent deductions of $10 on qualifying USD receipts and €5 on qualifying EUR receipts, and warns that additional intermediary charges may also be deducted.
Because the incoming currency set is limited, confirm the sender can pay in USD or EUR before directing a salary or pension here.
