Bank or transfer specialist?
Choose from the evidence for your corridor, amount, deadline and delivery need—not the provider category alone.
Start with the recipient outcome
Enter the same send amount, currencies, funding method and delivery method into each official pricing tool. Capture the timestamp, explicit fee, exchange rate, recipient amount and any disclosed intermediary charge. A low transfer fee can coexist with a wider FX spread.
When a bank may fit
A bank can suit an existing customer, a documented source-of-funds trail, a large bank-to-bank payment or a currency already held in the account. Correspondent and recipient banks can affect deductions and timing, so ask whether charges are shared, sender-paid or beneficiary-paid.
When a specialist may fit
A specialist may offer a clearer online quote, alternate payout methods or a different route. Check the exact legal entity, regulator status, safeguarding disclosure, verification limits and escalation support. A funds-transfer balance is not automatically equivalent to an insured bank deposit.
Sending checklist
- Confirm beneficiary name and account details directly.
- Check purpose, identity and source-of-funds documents before the deadline.
- Compare fresh, simultaneous quotes and recipient amounts.
- Review cancellation, error and fraud procedures before confirming.
Receiving checklist
- Ask which currency will arrive and whether the receiving bank converts it.
- Check incoming-transfer and correspondent deductions.
- Keep the transfer reference and evidence of purpose.
- Do not rely on an estimate as a guaranteed arrival time.
